Events Week

Each year UCL Christian Union (along with other CUs all over the UK) put on a week of events to share the good news about Jesus with our friends and our university. Evangelism is much more than simply putting on events, but this is a wonderful way to reach out to people who might never have heard about Jesus, and to invite them and others to explore the meaning of his life, death and resurrection for themselves.

LAST YEAR (2011/2012) OUR THEME WAS “THE 5 SECRET GODS OF UCL”.

Is it appropriate for UCL to carry the label, the “godless of Gower St”?

The UCLU Christian Union presented a week of a series of lunchtime talks to uncover “5 secret gods of UCL”.

Talks include;

Mon 23/1 – EVENING TALK 18:30
Rationalism – “Are science and philosophy enough, or do we need God?”

Tues 24/1 – 13:00
Materialism – “If you die with the highest grades and the most toys, do you win?

Wed 25/1 – 13:00
Hedonism – “If it feels good, is there anything else?”

Thurs 26/1 – 13:00
Religion – “Do all roads lead to heaven… or is it just one?”

Fri 27/1 – 13:00
Cultural Expectation – “Is there anything more to life than staying popular with friends and making my family proud?”

The events themselves consisted of a talk, followed by an oppurtunity to discuss or ask questions around the relevant theme.
